What would you want to be different, if we did it again?

What things do you want to do better, next time?
Is there anything you want us to know?

Succcessful Practice Day at Edminson Heights
Some of the things that were discovered were.....
* it will be sest to introduce Audacity before having the students develop their storyboard because then they know how the software works and can create their podcast using the tracks in an appropriate way
* the students can find the sample files provided BUT need some help navigating file structures, depending upon their computer skills and somewhat depending on age.
* there should be a backup memory stick at each location on which to save student work and to have the files for the local available if there are network problems
* if the LAME MP3 encoder is not installed students can save their projects as waves
* if the background is laid and criteria well articulated the students will quickly learn the software
* the software is intuitive
* the students do much better if the teachers facilitate their creations by asking questions that lead them to stretch themselves
* 3 before me philosophy leads to stronger teamwork skills and expansion of the teams to cross boundaries between groups
* in this case the creativity could be limited by imposing strict controls of what the podcast can sound like.

Arrangements
-We need a list of kids at each site. This will be done in a chart form by Brandi and Diane. It will be circulated in the directions that go to each school.
-We need someone to meet the students at the door to the school and check them off upon arrival and point them to the school library.
-We need to do this to ensure that the right kids are at the right site.
How do we deal with kids who get dropped off at the wrong site.
-Consultants that need Audacity training can see Jeff or Diane at any time and arrangements can be made.

April 24 Celebration of Learning
Rationale:The focus of the day will be on providing the students insight into alternative ways to receive information and interact with it in a constructivist way to create a celebration of the meaning they have created from the 3 prior gifted days. Through reflection and facilitated consideration of each of the experiences students will be able to create meaning from the gifted days and celebrate what they have learned through the use of web 2.0 applications.
The Background
We have had three incredible experiences this year. Today we are going to take at look at how technology can be used to reflect and communicate what we have learned in order to find and tie the relevancy of each day to prior knowledge and how these experiences have benefitted EACH student. The Baseball Hall of Fame will be providing the keynote address on how to create a broadcast...We will move them to the 21st century by giving them the opportunity for all students to create a podcast.
The Agenda April 24/2008
